Strengthening the After School Sector: TLT Annual Report 2024

The Learning Trust is proud to share our 2024 Annual Report, a reflection of a three-year journey to strengthen South Africa’s extended learning sector.

This year’s report highlights how After School Programmes (ASPs) continue to play a critical role in advancing education equity, reducing dropout rates and preparing young people for meaningful futures. From supporting grassroots organisations to shaping national policy conversations, our work has been about building strong foundations to improve learning and employment outcomes for learners and youth.

Inside the report, you’ll find:

  • Milestones from our three-year strategy (2022–2024).
  • Impact stories from grantees like PND Projects and Waumbe.
  • The growth of the Catch-up Coalition and the creation of over 15,000 work opportunities in the after-school sector, reaching more than 180,000 learners collectively.
  • Highlights from the Amplify After School Symposium and the #LightsOnAfterSchool 2024 campaign.
  • New tools such as the After School Quality Standards and Quality Assessment Tool, helping ASPs strengthen quality and credibility.

These achievements are the result of deep collaboration with our partners, funders, and the resilient young people who inspire this work daily.
