The Learning Trust

The Learning Trust is a non-profit, grant making and capacity support service provider whose focus is to support and strengthen local, effective and sustained educational interventions and community clusters that target South Africa's children growing up in conditions of poverty and exclusion.

Our Grantees

The Learning Trust has a strong track record of enhancing the capacity of small, educational organisations, as well as supporting the emergence of educational clusters in both geographic and focus areas.

Our clear strategy for nurturing multiple, broader Education Clusters where we look to build pipelines of support for learners via collaborative partnerships in defined communities, has significantly developed over the years.

Currently, we work with over 50 promising grantee partnersin 12 clusters in the Western Cape, Eastern Cape and Gauteng. Our grantee organisations fall into a variety of focus areas, the main ones being:

Early Childhood Development (ECD): Organisations supporting ECD.
After school education plus programme: Organisations working in the afterschool space providing programmes such as academic support, sport, arts,
  culture etc. or a mixture.
Community schools: Where an independent organisation made up of principals seeks to ensure its own sustainability for the benefit of its member schools
  and/or education cluster facilitation.
Youth Development / Career guidance: Combination of life skills, psycho-social support etc.
Literacy
Tutoring
