The Learning Trust

The Learning Trust is a non-profit, grant making and capacity support service provider whose focus is to support and strengthen local, effective and sustained educational interventions and community clusters that target South Africa's children growing up in conditions of poverty and exclusion.

TLT Grantees in the Western Cape

Across the Western Cape, The Learning Trust currently supports 31 individual grantees in five education clusters:

1. Vrygrond: Sozo Foundation (multi-intervention), True North (ECD), Butterfly Art Project (art therapy), Vrygrond Trust (community collaboration), The Communiversity of South Africa

2. Khayelitsha: Emagqabini (tutoring), Iliso Care Society (multi-intervention), Siyakhathala Orphans (reading), Thokhozani Brothers (ECD & AS support), Thope Foundation (multi-intervention), Waves for Change (trauma therapy through surfing)

3. Langa: Just Grace (tutoring)

4. Heideveld, Manenberg, Gugulethu: GCU (reading)

5. Crossroads, Nyanga, Phillipi: Ikamva Labantwana Bethu (tutoring), Vulisango (youth at risk), Amandla Development (community collaboration), Beautiful Gate (multi-intervention)

6. Across clusters: Action Volunteers Africa (using volunteers as tutors), Amandla Edufootball (literacy and sports), Centre for Creative Education (CCE), Dream Factory Foundation, Earthchild Project, Educape, Wordworks, CoolPlay

7. Ad hoc: Kronendal Music Academy (music and education support), Franschhoek Principals Forum (multi-intervention), Bethesda Community Centre, Cape Center for Children, Families and Refugees in Distress (CCFRD), Darling Outreach Centre, Vision Afrika
